Over the past two years, we have seen Vietnam kratom rise from obscurity to a fairly popular option, similar to other strains, such as Sumatra kratom. However, Vietnam kratom is far from new. For thousands of years, kratom has grown in the more fertile areas of Vietnam, but over the past few years, due to the boom in the kratom industry, this country has decided to join in the fun and start exporting kratom in a much larger way.
For anyone interested in kratom, Vietnam strains are fairly unique in effects and are definitely worth looking into.
Origins and Growth
Although Vietnam is a fairly large province, nearly all of the kratom that has been exported over the past few years is located in or around the An Giang Province. This province, is located on the Mekong River making it a very fertile area for growth.
Because of the unique growth and fertile conditions along the Mekong River, this area receives a large amount of rainfall, humidity and minerals swept down the river from northern mountains, deeper within the continent of Asia. Because of these conditions, it is in one of the most ideal locations for kratom growth, and its unique location and properties give it some unique effects and alkaloid differences between strains from other areas.
All of these factors make Vietnam kratom very different from other strains, and definitely worth checking out.
Effects
Unlike many other strains, such as Thai and Borneo, it is very hard to characterize Vietnam kratom fully. The effects of this kratom lie somewhere between other strains, similar to Malaysian strains, but with some unique differences and increased potency. The most pronounced effects of Vietnam strains are:
Pain Relief -Fairly Significant
Energy & Stimulation – Not overpowering
Lucidity – Clarity of thought and emotion, absorption in current task
Mood Lifting – Organic quality of feeling
While the descriptions of these effects seem fairly difficult to discern, this list is compiled from a variety of different sources and is overall most reminiscent of a more potent white vein borneo — with some unique differences, as it seems to blend both powerful painkilling capability with energetic effects and lucidity, without the more overpowering nature of a strain like Maeng Da.
Pain Relief
While not as potent as a strain such as Bali or Borneo, Vietnam strains are fairly close in painkilling effects. The nature of these effects feels somewhat different, as it doesn’t have as much of the characteristic sedation found in other strong strains for pain relief.
Energy & Stimulation
While not overpowering to any extent, Vietnam kratom is known for its extremely smooth energetic effects. Unlike some strains like Thai, it is not a forceful energy, but if you need to get stuff done, the energy is certainly there. Because of this, many people prefer Vietnam strains for daily use, and some even use this kratom for depression.
Lucidity & Mood Lifting
One of the most unique effects of Vietnam strains is their organic feeling of clarity and mood lifting, which aside from this strain, typically only occur in strains such as white vein borneo. This feeling is characterized by a feeling of mental energy, and clarity, making difficult work a breeze, without the physical intensity that some other strains cause. Despite not being overpowering, users of these strains know that this effect should not be taken lightly, as it is fairly potent despite its subtlety.
Future of the Strain
Despite Vietnam’s increasing popularity, the legality of kratom in Vietnam is questionable. We have heard reports that it is only illegal in Vietnam for consumption, and others that state it is illegal outright. Despite these inconsistencies, the regions still continues to export high quality leaves, and for that reason we are lucky.
If kratom continues to be exported from Vietnam, we can expect to see a lot of great additions to kratom strain selection over time. Vietnam kratom shows a lot of promise, and is definitely worth looking into.
