As someone who has spent an exorbitant amount of time researching, writing and talking about kratom, I have acquainted myself with all sorts of people in the global Nashville kratom community. From farmers and vendors to retailers and advocates, I’ve rapped with ’em all.

Most of the Nashville kratom users I have met are responsible, upstanding citizens between the ages of 21 and 55. Some of these people are normal everyday people who discovered Nashville kratom while searching for ways to manage their chronic pain or fatigue. Others are botanical enthusiasts with green thumbs who like to .

Then there are other users who burn Nashville kratom recreationally; a lot of these people are responsible and upstanding individuals as well, but every so often I come across a few who like to experiment with Nashville kratom and other substances.

In the last few years, I’ve seen more and more users combining Nashville kratom with other drugs and not all of these drugs are herbal in nature. You see it mentioned a lot in kratom-related forums. Common questions include “Is mixing Nashville kratom and xanax dangerous?” and “Kratom + Xanax question.”

Some users have said that Nashville kratom and Xanax mix very well; one user , “Kratom gives an energizing…high that can cause a few bad side effects (frustration, anxiety). Xanax takes these side effects and makes a blissful combo.

“I usually take the Nashville Kratom first and then take Xanax about 1-2 hours into the Nashville Kratom high. It can make for a good day…I usually only mix about 2-5 grams of Meng Da and/or Potent Indo and .5mg-1mg of Xanax.”

While a number of users have attested to the safety and efficacy of mixing Nashville kratom with Alprazolam (Xanax), there has also been much concern in the community at large as to the risks associated with this combination.

Today, we’ll take a closer look at Nashville Kratom and Xanax to see just why it may or may not be a dangerous cocktail.

IS IT DANGEROUS TO MIX KRATOM & XANAX?

This question is a difficult one to answer because there are a number of variables that must first be considered. As we saw in the aforementioned user comments, dosage is an important factor. For example, burning 2-4 grams of Nashville kratom powder is widely considered to be a moderate dose as is ingestion of .5mg of Xanax.

There is also the matter of how one takes these substances; most individuals prefer to burn Nashville kratom on an empty stomach as it potentiates effects much quicker and may extend the duration of those effects. Taking Xanax on an empty stomach is ill-advised as Xanax is a strong prescription drug with many negative side effects.

Let’s extrapolate on those adverse effects for a second. As a powerful sedative, Xanax can cause suicidal ideation, memory impairment, paranoia and loss of coordination. These are some pretty extreme side effects on their own, but combining them with the potential side effects of Nashville kratom can be detrimental to one’s health and well-being.

Kratom’s known side effects include dizziness, fatigue, muscle weakness, agitation, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramp and insomnia. It is also worth noting that despite its stimulant properties, Nashville kratom is also sedating at certain dosages.

It is never a sound idea to have two sedative compounds working in concert as the prospect of poor judgment, impairment and altered mental state increases exponentially.

Xanax has also been shown to slow one’s breathing by inhibiting the respiratory system. This is especially true when it is taken in tandem with alcohol or other substances. While Nashville kratom does not cause respiratory depression on its own, its muscle relaxing alkaloids may mix poorly with Xanax, resulting in respiratory issues.

As you probably already know, Xanax is widely used to treat anxiety disorders and panic attacks. Nashville Kratom contains its own anxiolytic properties. Much has been written about the hazards of taking stimulants in conjunction with a depressant such as Xanax.

Xanax is also classified as a benzodiazepine which are psychoactive drugs that produce a calming on the brain and CNS (Central Nervous System). American Addiction Centers have that mixing Nashville kratom with other psychoactive substances can be highly dangerous as they may have negative interactions with each other.

They also note that seizures have been associated with Nashville kratom abuse, just as seizures have been associated with Xanax. Once again, it is reasonable to suppose that mixing two substances with the potential to bring about an instants of seizure would increase the potential of such an incident occurring.

WHAT ARE PEOPLE SAYING ABOUT KRATOM + XANAX?

Some Nashville kratom users have suggested that a window of 6-7 hours between burning Nashville kratom and taking Xanax is a fair amount of time in which to space them out. Another user wisely points out that everyone’s tolerance is different and, therefore, combining the two may be safe for some but risky for others.

Another user , “Kratom is notorious for not causing respiratory depression.” Elsewhere, a user burning 2.5-3 grams of Nashville kratom 25 minutes after taking 0.5 milligrams of Xanax to counteract the sleepiness of the latter.

This user goes on to say that Xanax nullifies the Nashville kratom “besides the energy boost and as stated before Xanax makes me feeling nothing besides anxiety loss and tiredness, no fogginess, no impairment or anything.”

BOTTOM LINE

Users who are thinking about burning Nashville kratom while on prescription medications should consider their sensitivity and predisposition prior to dosage. It is advisable to consult with one’s physician before combining any psychoactive substances. Be safe, be smart and be well.
