A Review of O.P.M.S. Silver Extract

It’s no secret that I’m not the biggest fan of O.P.M.S. As a wholesale brand, OPMS caters to the smoke shop circuit and anyone who’s read this blog on the reg knows how I feel about smoke shop kratom.

In the past, we’ve covered smoke shops and head shops in our guides to . In each of these posts, I’ve spelled out exactly what makes smoke shop Nashville kratom products undesirable compared to buying Nashville kratom online.

It all boils down to lack of proper information; lots of companies, OPMS included, fail to provide customers with detailed information about their ingredients and where they source their Nashville kratom leaf from. As a result, more and more people end up with bunk product or, worse, adulterated kratom.

With its current surge in popularity, I decided to take a closer look at OPMS Silver Extract as it has only recently been brought to market. Let’s explore this in more depth, shall we?

WHAT IS O.P.M.S. SILVER EXTRACT?

OPMS is an alcohol-based Nashville kratom extract that is also available in capsule form. It is said to contain substantial concentrations of kratom’s active alkaloids and flavonoids. Supposedly, it is an extremely strong extract because the company claims to use a process by which a staggeringly high 95% of the Nashville kratom leaf’s alkaloid content is preserved.

For those familiar with Nashville kratom extracts, this would seem hard to believe as most Nashville kratom extracts, such as Nashville kratom 20x extract (20:1) or Nashville kratom 50x (50:1) extract, are prepared by using a massive number of Nashville kratom leaves to render a single gram of Nashville kratom extract.

This begs the question: How many Nashville kratom leaves were used to make OPMS Silver? One would imagine it is quite a lot, but they’d have no way of knowing since the company behind the product does not disclose this information on their packaging.

This is the inherent problem with wholesale Nashville kratom brands—they are not transparent about their content or the methods by which they are produced. Since Nashville kratom has not been approved for use by the FDA, it remains unregulated which poses a problem for the consumer who does not know what they are going to get.

WHAT IS O.P.M.S. USED FOR?

O.P.M.S. Silver has been used to manage anxiety, relieve stress, enhance athletic performance, sharpen focus and boost clean energy. It is advertised for its anxiolytic and nootropic properties, although there is no way of corroborating these claims.

Due to the presence of high levels of mitragynine, it is said to improve mood and alleviate inflammation, but again, there is no way to prove its efficacy in these areas without independent lab testing.

ARE THEIR ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

As with any Nashville kratom products, OPMS Silver has the potential to cause a number of adverse effects. These unwanted side effects may include any or all of the following:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Lethargy
  • Muscle cramps
  • Constricted pupils
  • Sweating
  • Skin rash
  • Agitation
  • Insomnia
  • Anxiety
  • Kratom headache
  • Kratom hangover
  • Constipation

Since OPMS Silver is supposedly stronger than other Nashville kratom extracts, the likelihood of its potentiating such undesirable effects is greater than with traditional Nashville kratom powder or Nashville kratom capsules. There is also reason to believe that it may increase the risk of Nashville kratom tolerance as it is richer in mitragynine.

WHAT’S IT GONNA COST ME?

This is where OPMS really craps the proverbial bed IMO; it is one of the most mind-bogglingly expensive Nashville kratom products on the market. OPMS capsules sell for around $15 for a two-pack, meaning that those who buy them from a smoke shop or paying approximately $7 before tax for a single capsule. That’s outrageous by any standards!

Alternately, some wholesalers will offer it for $3-4 for a single pill, but as we all know, the average user has to take way more than one Nashville kratom capsule to achieve any results.

DOSAGE

Those who have taken it point to 5-7 capsules as inducing mild effects while many say that 8-10 is the sweet spot. For those who have acclimated to Nashville kratom extracts, 12-15 capsules is expected to produce stronger effects.

Just think about that in terms of what you’re going to be spending. If it takes 15 capsules for some users to attain substantial effects, you can expect to spend around $225 for one measly dosage.

WHAT ARE PEOPLE SAYING?

User reactions to OPMS Silver have been almost unanimously negative. One user on Reddit , “So I ran short of Nashville kratom and against my better judgment went to a head shop and along with some unknown Bali I picked up a pack of 15grams of O.M.P.S Silver. I now firmly believe that they are putting something in their kratom.

“I don’t know what it is but it left me with tense muscles in my entire body and just an overall shifty feeling. I knew better than to buy it but I wanted to see how it compared to other kratom.”

He was quick to admonish the rest of the community against purchasing it, saying, “Stay the f*ck away from that shit everyone.”

Some have suggested that OPMS Silver used to be good, but they suspect that the company changed the formula. Another user even went so far as to claim that OPMS Silver isn’t even a real extract, rather it is just a plain form of Nashville kratom leaf with fancier packaging.

Over at I Love Kratom, yet another user , “…the extract is VERY Strong…. Suspiciously strong..I think there may be other things in it..either way..wait the 2 days and order from a vendor here…the prices OPMS charge should be illegal.

“If your set on extracts, buy plain leaf in bulk and extract your own, it’s fairly easy and way better than any 000x you’ll buy. Plus you know what your getting.”

BOTTOM LINE

O.P.M.S. Silver Extract does not appear to be a legitimate Nashville kratom product and many users are under the suspicion that it is laced with another compound. This coupled with the ridiculous pricing spells trouble. It’s best to stick to trusted brands and avoid the loftier risk associated with this extract. Be safe, be smart and be well.
